Pathways to Potential is now offering “The Zones of Regulation”. The Zones of Regulation is an evidence based curriculum geared towards helping children and teens gain skills in consciously regulating their emotions, which in turn leads to increased control and problem solving. These groups are designed to help clients recognize when they are in different states called “Zones”, each represented by a different color.
Some skills you can anticipate your child learning include: Self-regulation, improved ability to read facial expressions and recognize a broad range of emotions. Additionally, clients will learn perspective taking, insight to their own emotional/behavioral triggers, and how/when to use skills.
Led by Ashley Davenport, AMFT the group format will be 11 weeks and will meet at the same time and day of the week with the same group of carefully selected group members (same age and level of skill). Week 1 will be for the parents only. The Parents will meet with the group therapist to learn the curriculum in order to support these lessons at home. Subsequent sessions will be for the children only during which they will be actively learning skills in a fun and engaging environment. Each child will receive their own binder complete with all necessary worksheets and tools needed to succeed.
Parents are required to meet individually with the group therapist 1x per month for 30 minutes at an agreed-upon time. The session is free. The purpose of these meetings will be for parents and the therapist to collaborate on the child’s needs and how to continue to best support them. The therapist will provide one-on-one coaching, answer any questions regarding the group curriculum, and provide updates on the child’s involvement and participation in the group.
Parents are free to set up more individual sessions throughout the month with the therapist if they would like. The fee for each additional session will be $150.
Groups are offered in cohorts so please contact the office if you would like to be added to the waitlist.
